I know the past couple weeks have caused increasing levels of anxiety as we all grapple with the impact of the COVID-19 virus. We are in uncharted territory, but are committed to continue providing accurate and timely filing for our clients. In response to the current situation, we will continue to take actions to ensure continued service to our clients, but like so many businesses, we have adjusted our operations to protect staff and clients. Currently our Belfast office is closed until April 3rd and our Rockland office will be open only on Thursday’s until April 6th. Our Brewer office will remain open at this time. With this in mind, I am writing to provide some detailed information about options of which you may not be aware to share data with us without requiring you to travel to our offices.
We are fortunate to be able to offer access to our secure online portal technology to exchange your confidential information securely. This technology is familiar to us and we are here to walk you through the process and make this as painless and convenient as possible. If you do not yet have access to our secure online portal and would like to utilize this as an option for your tax preparation, please contact us at the office and we will set up an account for you. If you have trouble with the portal, please call us at the office; we will be happy to assist you.
If you are not in a position to utilize the portal, our Brewer location has a mail slot on the front porch, which allows clients to drop their data off without physically entering the office. Additionally we would be happy to exchange your information via USPS, FedEx, or UPS.
If you prefer that we file an extension and wait until a time that you would feel more comfortable delivering the data to us personally, please send us an email or call the office. If you need to plan for a meeting with a tax professional, our office is now scheduling phone appointments for clients.
I want you to know that we understand the importance of the service we provide to you and your business. We will continue monitor information issued by IRS, Department of the Treasury and state departments of revenue.
As always, if you have questions please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Stay safe and be well.
J. Thomas Hicks, CPA
